Arkansas Dirt Riders

I didn't race in the 70's I delivered news papers on a Suzuki 185.  No riding in the 80's  Firts race was the OKC enduro on a KLR 250.  I have no idea how I did the goal was to fininsh.  Got my first trophy at Brezzy Hill in 1991.  Drove down there by myself and slept in the car.  Got a 4th place plaque.  I sat it in the passenger seat and looked at it all the way home.  I was hooked.

Great story Bruster. Loved it. I remember very well my first trophy at Devil's Den. I still own it and will as long as I can. Vivid memories of that ride and the mileage was brutal - 75 miles in those rocks!!! Not like Breezy Hills loamy dirt. . . yes, I am whining*

I had always rode 2 stroke dual sports in the 70's.  Then I took a break in the 80's to have kids when I decided to get a new bike I went looking for another like I had in the 70's but they didn't have 2 stroke dual sports any more so I got a KLR 250.  Probably the worse bike I ever owned for the type of riding I wanted to do but since i was making payments of $88 a month so that is what I rode on my first Enduro in OKC.

OKC was the last race of the season for 1990.  I quiclky realized that the KLR was not going to make a good enduro bike but I was stuck with it and the payments.  I paid cash for a used 1984 KDX before the next race season.  It was funny I would ride the KDX all the time while the KLR just sat there while I made payments on it.  I think this pictue was at the Burns Park motocross track.  I rode my first full year BJEC  on that KDX.  My goal that year was to finsih all my races and I did.  Twenty years later when I decided to get a post vintage bike for AHRMA the 1984 KDX was my obvious choice.  I got the a red one this time.
