Well Saturday started off in good shape up until around 4 miles from the fire station in New Blaine! The work crew consisting of Sid and I were hauling up a gravel road going to one of our test sections for the event in September when Sid, who was leading out started stopping all of a sudden. I slid past and looked around to see him pulling his helmet and goggles off! I asked what was going on and he said a buzzard had thrown up on him. Yes you heard me correctly - a buzzard just happened to be flying over that one spot on the gravel road and threw up his morning meal on an unsuspecting dirt bike rider in the form of Sid. That guys has had some of the most unusual things happen to him at Mt, Magazine/New Blaine! I would even venture to guess that Sid might not even go back to that place again.....well maybe that spot on the gravel road at least. We rode back by there two other times and it stuck really bad. I mean something dead a couple of times over dead. Pretty bad when you are dong 25 or 30 and can smell it on the road. Anyway, stinky made it through the day besides that episode. That one about takes the cake for weird things to happen.
Hey we got to ride the best test sections in those mountains. What a hoot they are and they aren't in too bad of shape even without too much traffic on them. We worked on a couple of other sections that we feel will help if there is any dust - at least for a little while - and got in about 80 miles of riding for the day. Had a great time since it was the first time back on a bike since June 10, 2012. Did pretty good and I am not sore at all today and got back in time to go see The amazing Spiderman movie!. Those test sections just light me up. Wish they were at the Ross. I could ride them the whole day. Sort of like a couple of areas in Colorado. Just can't wait to get there and hate it when your finished. That's our ride report, believe it or not. . . . .
