The LBL150 was a hoot! Can't speak for everyone else who was there, but Bruce and I got in a full day at a very good pace. Yes there was rain, but we got out early and avoided the slop that some of the later guys got. We know because we had to ride some of those same trails coming back and they were a bit of a challenge. But there were several trails - single track - that made up for the rainy roads! And for heavens sake there were a lot of those. . . Bruce, Robert Hicks and I got in right at 150 miles and I was going to try to get in some of the later single track today, but the rain caused a change in plans. Got home early though! Sorry some of you had other plans and it may have been for the good, but who knows. Maybe next year? At any rate you missed a great time and there was still some good things said about our Ozark 100.
Brad and I ripped thru the day one of 150miles and had a blast!! Besides about 30min of rain mid day the entire ride was perfect. Day 2 wasnt' so pretty, Brad and I opted to bypass the first section prior to gas stop as we knew it would be a muddy mess. Went and rode Jenny's ridge, man oh man what a fun technical loop! It was slick real slick Brad struggled on the roots but loved his new 250xc-w by the end of it. Not sure how many miles we got in but ended up riding about 2hrs then heading home. Hate that we didn't get the 100 miles in but just wasnt worth riding cold and muddy for 6hrs.
We got a little rain on the road into lunch and it pretty much rained the whole time we were at lunch. I was starting to worry about the 70 plus we had to ride back but as soon as we got back on the trails the rained stoppped the goggles cleared up and ride back perfect. Sure I would have liked to ride Sunday too but definitely got my money’s worth on day one.
